Beatriz Agís González obtained her PhD in 2017 from the Centro de Astrobiología (CSIC-INTA) and Universidad Complutense de Madrid (Spain). Before joining IA in 2024 she was a IAC-KU Leuven Postdoctoral Fellow in Belgium and a "Junta de Andalucía" fellow at the Instituto de Astrofísica de Andalucía in Spain. Her research interests revolve around accretion on active galactic nuclei, tidal disruption events and quasi-periodic eruptions.

Alessandro Paggi got his PhD in Astronomy in 2010 at the University of Rome “Tor Vergata” with a thesis titled “Flares in Blazars” under the supervision of F. Vagnetti and A. Cavaliere. During the PhD he worked on data analysis and modelization of multi-wavelength emission from blazars, and visited the Harvard-Smithsonian Center for Astrophysics to work on X-ray spectral analysis of blazars under the supervision of D. E. Harris. Then in 2011 he started working as a Post-doc fellow at the Harvard-Smithsonian Center for Astrophysics under the supervision of G. Fabbiano and D.-W. Kim, focusing on nuclear and diffuse X-ray emission from AGNs and galaxies, and developing pipelines for spectral and imaging analysis. In 2017 he moved back to Italy at the University of Turin and at the Astrophysical Observatory of Turin to work on multi-wavelength emission and large scale environment of AGNs under the supervision of F. Massaro and C. M. Raiteri. He is in Crete since 2024.
Sara Capecchiacci is from Italy, where she obtained both my Bachelor’s degree in Physics and my Master’s degree in Astrophysics and Space Physics. Her research interests revolve around AGNs in general, with a particular focus on quasars and blazars, their structure and their connection to galaxy formation and evolution. Sara loves looking at the night sky with her telescope, named Anakin Skywatcher, and aspires to be an astrophotographer. In her spare time, she enjoys reading a nice book and practicing outdoors sports. She started her PhD in Crete in 2024.
Alberto Floris comes from San Donà di Piave, a city nearby Venice, in Italy. He holds a MSc in Astrophysics and Cosmology obtained at the University of Padova (Italy). During his studies he mainly focused on the Broad Line Regions of Active Galactic Nuclei and closely worked with the Copernico Telescope at the Asiago Astrophysical Observatory. After graduation he was a visiting researcher at the Center for Theoretical Physics in Warsaw to build a model for the FeII emission from quasars. His main research interests are Active Galactic Nuclei, Broad Line Regions, Tidal Disruption Events, star formation and the Interstellar Medium. In his free time he enjoys trekking, learning new languages and studying history. He started his PhD in Crete in 2024.
Dimitrios Alkinoos Langis obtained his Bachelors in 2023 and Masters in 2024 in Physics at the University of Crete. For his undergraduate and master’s theses he studied the long-term variability, time-lags, and X-ray reverberation of Active galactic nuclei with a particular interest in constraining physical parameters, such as the X-ray corona height and the spin of the black hole, in these system. His research interests primarily revolve around Active Galactic Nuclei, Tidal Disruption Events, and Supermassive Black Holes. In his free time, he enjoys playing chess, strength training, and cinema. He started his PhD in Crete in 2024.
Anastasia Glykopoulou is a senior undergraduate at the Physics Department of the University of Crete. Her work is focusing on the detection of optical polarization angle rotations from blazars.
Styliana Gregoriou is a senior undergraduate at the Physics Department of the University of Crete. Her work focusing on understanding the connection between the optical polarization variability and gamma-rays in blazars.
